WHO is Silvia? What is she? That all our swains commend her?
ON a day—alack the day!— Love, whose month is ever May,
WHEN daisies pied and violets blue, And lady-smocks all silver-white,
WHEN icicles hang by the wall, And Dick the shepherd blows his nail,
OVER hill, over dale, Thorough bush, thorough brier,
YOU spotted snakes with double tongue, Thorny hedgehogs, be not seen;
COME unto these yellow sands, And then take hands:
WHERE the bee sucks, there suck I: In a cowslip’s bell I lie;
FULL fathom five thy father lies; Of his bones are coral made;
TELL me where is Fancy bred, Or in the heart or in the head?
O MISTRESS mine, where are you roaming? O, stay and hear! your true love’s coming,
COME away, come away, death, And in sad cypres let me be laid;
UNDER the greenwood tree, Who loves to lie with me,
BLOW, blow, thou winter wind, Thou art not so unkind
IT was a lover and his lass, With a hey, and a ho, and a hey nonino,
SHALL I compare thee to a Summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
When to the sessions of sweet silent thought I summon up remembrance of things past,
That time of year thou mayst in me behold When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
For shame deny that thou bear'st loue to any Who for thy selfe art so vnprouident
Then let not winters wragged hand deface, In thee thy summer ere thou be distil'd:
From fairest creatures we desire increase, That thereby beauties Rose might neuer die,
Looke in thy glasse and tell the face thou vewest, Now is the time that face should forme an other,
Vnthrifty louelinesse why dost thou spend, Vpon thy selfe thy beauties legacy?
